Many Swedes are now leaving the country for a long-awaited holiday abroad. But many destinations can be unusually expensive for you, while some others can spare your wallet. These are the countries where prices are rising the most – and the least.
Here it is most expensive to travel this summer
For many, the summer holiday 2022 means the first trip abroad since before the pandemic. But the prices look really different today. According to Johan Javeus, chief strategist at SEB, this is due to large currency movements and rampant inflation that has affected the purchasing power of the Swedish krona, reports SVT.
And there are destinations where travel costs are extra high.
– It has become much more expensive to go to the US compared to before the pandemic. But even a regular summer destination such as going to Egypt has become much more expensive, Javeus says to SVT and continues:
– If you want to go to Europe, the UK is one of the countries that has become quite a lot more expensive since before the pandemic.
The country where it is cheapest to travel this summer.
That it has become so expensive to travel to the United States, as well as the United Kingdom, is partly due to the fact that our krona has lost value against the local currencies and that prices in these countries have risen sharply. But some vacation destinations may rather spare your wallet.
There are not many destinations that have become cheaper now than compared to before the pandemic, and this is mainly due to the fact that prices around the world have risen very much, especially in the past year. But a common summer destination that has become quite a lot cheaper is Turkey. And those who want to go far away, all the way to Japan, get away cheaper, Javeus explains to SVT.
