Volvo Cars is laying off thousands of employees, with a particularly significant impact in Gothenburg. Jonas Attenius (S), Chairman of the City Executive Board, is calling for increased government investment in the industry.
Up to 3,000 jobs may be cut from Volvo Cars, with around 2,000 positions affected in Sweden.
“A heavy blow for Gothenburg, but above all for those who will be directly impacted,” says Jonas Attenius.
“It’s a situation that reflects the global climate,” he adds.
